Research

Research is an important activity related to evaluation but sometimes occurring separately. The following are some examples of research projects:

  • Needs assessments, gap analyses, feasibility studies, or other procedures used to test the need for a program or the appropriateness of a proposed solution.
  • Reviews of existing research literature, possibly in preparation for a program design or logic model.
  • Asset-based research, including community asset mapping or Appreciative Inquiry.

Each of these types of research should be selected carefully, based on their alignment with your purpose.
